JAKE Kitchin was cooking up a storm for FC Dorcan at the weekend as his hat-trick helped his side jump above Deers Leap in the Swindon and District Premier Division.

In the only game to be played in the division, Dorcan put a 5-1 defeat only a month prior behind them to come out 5-3 winners this time out.

Dorcan suffered an early setback as Ali Drew found the back of his own net before a rocket of a strike from Kitchin restored parity.

Kitchin then turned provider when his cross was met by the head of Danny Horwood, which nestled into the goal.

Deers Leap responded before half time when Ashton Glover netted his second of the game before leaving the game at the break injured.

As a result, Dorcan were able to make their mark on the game and when Kitchin completed his hat-trick, with Brendan Shaw having already netted for the hosts, the win was secured.

“It was nice to have our full squad back. It was one of the first times I actually had to drop players,” said manager Jimmy Horwood.

“It was a strange game because they were putting in some meaty challenges but we kept battling through and taking it and the ref was really good at controlling the game.

“I think we were the better side. Once their striker went off, they didn’t really have a lot up front to worry us.”

The victory put Dorcan, formerly known as The Clifton, third in the table, a point off joint leaders Tawny Owl and Bassett Bulldogs.

“We’re delighted with the run of form we are on,” added Horwood.

“When we started the season, we were just thinking about seeing it out and then in our second season we would look to push up the league.

“To be one point off top; the points we dropped were all at the start of the season when we were switching the team around.

“Now we have got a bit of consistency, it is really clicking.”

In Division One, Old Town United moved second as a hat-trick from Steven Nesbitt helped them to an 8-3 win over Stratton Juniors.

There were two hat-tricks in Wroughton’s game with Moredon as Daryll Chambers and Jamie Pidgeon both achieved the feat as the hosts ran out 7-1 winners, while Richie Miles was also getting in on the act as his treble aided Core Construction to a 5-2 victory over Haydon Wick.

Joshua Fisher had to settle for a brace as Swindon AFC overcame Chiseldon 6-2 to wrap up the weekend’s action.
