HIGHWORTH Town Sunday sprung a big shock in the Wiltshire Sunday Cup with a stunning success over Chilli Shak to book their place in the quarter-finals.

Ellis McSharry was the hero for the Worthians, who are also chasing the Swindon Sunday League Division Five title, as he got four goals in a 7-4 defeat of Chilli, who are from three tiers above in Division Two.

Dom Stagg also struck twice for Mitch Brown’s side, with Highworth’s lot completed by Aysa Corrick as they secured a spot in the last eight of the county competition.

The game perhaps would have unfolded differently has the Worthians finished the game with 10 men as Adam Brooks was initially shown a second yellow card by the referee, only for that decision to be reversed and the player allowed to remain on the pitch.

Elsewhere, Division One leaders Greyhound were knocked out in a 3-2 defeat at home to The Dursley Arms, of the Chippenham League.

Fellow Division One side AFC Gas edged out Croft Juniors, who play two tiers lower, 2-1 and Division Three outfit Willowgreen Hotspur were 3-2 winners over Your Sport Swindon from the tier above.

In the Bunny Uzzell Memorial Shield, Division Four outfit Coleshill Youth stunned Division Three opponents Eldene 9-4.

There was no such upset in the Swindon Sunday League Knockout Cup as Division One team Jovial Monk were 5-2 winners over Gorsehill Borough, who ply their trade in Division Four.

In league matches, Rodbourne Real moved five points clear at the top in Division Two with a 4-1 win away at Cleeve Tech.

Athletico Marlborough moved within two points of the summit in Division Four after a 3-1 success over Nationwide.

There was an excellent result for Division Five bottom side Swindon Rovers as they held table toppers Purton Red House to a 1-1 draw.

It was also honours even between Save on Tyres Athletic and Paxton House United as they shared a 3-3 draw, while Northern Lights romped past Sevenfield United 5-1.
