HOME form will be vital for Swindon Supermarine in the second half of the season if they are to compete for a play-off spot according to manager Dave Webb.

Marine host Wimborne Town at the Webbswood Stadium tomorrow and having already conceded that run-away league leaders Hereford will go on to claim the title, Webb believes they are one of several teams vying out for the remaining four play-off spots.

The South Marston side sit a place and two points outside those lucrative positions and Webb knows that they cannot afford to drop too many points at home if they are to be in contention come the end of the season.

“We went to Wimborne earlier in the season and played some fantastic stuff,” said Webb.

“To be fair to them, they tried to continue to play out from the back and we just put a high press on them and I think it was 5-1, which was a fantastic result.

“As you can see from some of their results, they’ve gone to Tiverton and won, they’re a good side so it won’t be easy at all.

“Our home form now is vitally important. The next two games, Wimborne and Slimbridge, are important and we need to keep picking up points.

“The league is as strong as it has ever been.

“For me, there are 10 sides who are all contesting for four play-off spots.

“That’s the challenge for us but we’ll give it our best shot and in the second half of the season, we really need to kick on.”

Marine handed new signing Ryan Campbell a debut from the bench in Monday’s 5-0 win away to Wantage Town after he joined from Chippenham Town, with Webb saying that he thinks that is his transfer business done for now.

However, with North Leigh making a seven-day approach for one of his midfielder’s, he could be forced to look for further recruits.

“We’ve got no other approaches in at the moment,” added the Webbswood boss.

“We’re always on the lookout, I don’t think we’re far away – one more maybe.

“I think defensively we have got enough, I think midfield, as long as I can keep the one who is hopefully not going to go, we’ll be fine there.

“You’re always looking at your attacking options, they’re the ones that you really need. Although we are scoring the goals again, it’s important that we defend properly.

“But no, no official approaches in for anybody as yet.”
