PURTON boss Justin Miller has highlighted the importance of away form as they hit the road to face Abingdon United this weekend.

Miller’s men go into the Division One West fixture full of confidence after recording a routine 3-0 win on the road over Milton United last time out.

But the Purton manager wants his men to remain focussed as they navigate their way through five consecutive away matches.

“We have a tough one now, we are in the middle of a five-game away run in the league,” said Miller. “We need to make sure we have the right attitude.

“Last time we won 1-0, it was a tight game. We got the goal and we expected a tough game, they’re higher up in the league with games in hand."

Miller believes his side are more than capable of competing with the top sides in the division.

At the moment Purton are sixth in the league standings, four points behind this week’s opponents, who have 36 so far this season.

“With everyone available I know we can beat anyone on our day,” he added “We are a top-five team really. We’ve played all the top teams twice, so we know we aren’t massively far away.

“We’ve got a lot of games against teams who are just above us or below us, from our point of view we see them as winnable games.

“We need to make sure that we do the right things, if we do that we are going to get more points than we are going to lose.”

Fairford Town make the journey to Milton United's The Heights ground, looking to go one better than their disappointing 1-1 draw with Clanfield 85’ knowing that a win could see them return to the top of the table.

Shrivenham face a tough test in their Supplementary Cup tie as they face Division One West leaders Hook Norton.

New College Swindon will look for a reaction when they play host to fellow strugglers Cheltenham Saracens, also in the Supplementary Cup.
