THE ELEMENTS have put today’s non-league fixture list in an icy grip, with only one local side set to see any action this afternoon.

Swindon Supermarine, who beat fellow Southern League Division One South & West promotion-chasers Tiverton Town seven days ago, were due to host Mangotsfield United this afternoon but that clash was postponed following a mid-morning pitch inspection at the Webbswood Stadium.

Local teams from the Hellenic League also saw weather conditions wreck their scheduled matches.

Second-placed Fairford Town’s trip to Milton United was postponed, as was Purton’s game away at Abingdon United, who are two places above the villagers in fourth in the Division One West table.

Meanwhile, Shrivenham and New College saw their Supplementary Cup first-round ties fall by the wayside – Shrivvy were due to go to Hook Norton while College were pencilled in to host Cheltenham Saracens.

The only fixture that looks set to survive the cold snap is Chippenham Town’s trip to Slough Town in the Southern League Premier Division.

Slough, who are fifth in the table, play on an artificial surface at their Arbour Park home and remain on course to host Mark Collier’s third-placed Chippenham (kick-off 3pm).
