IN A depleted fixture list, AFC Gas will be glad they were able to play their game as they claimed an emphatic win in the Wiltshire County Sunday Cup.

Mark Tring’s Division One side had no issues advancing to the next round as they recorded an 8-0 away win over Andover & District Sunday side Tidworth Town.

Lee Smith will take most of the plaudits as he managed to clock up five goals, while Matthew Bissett and Steve Hall completed the scoring.

“I’m extremely pleased with the result as we fully expected a tough match because they had a decent record in their league,” said Tring. “After the break, it was all about game management. We dominated the second half.

“We have a lot of confidence and belief this season and with our great team spirit, we believe we can achieve something this year.”

FC Walcot had their cup ambitions brought to an end as they were thumped 7-1 by Chippenham and District Sunday League outfit Dursley Arms.

The hosts stormed into a 3-0 lead at the interval, before adding a fourth in the second half.

It was almost five when the home side missed a penalty, before Walcot found a reply to make it 4-1.

But any hope of a comeback was quashed when Dursley added another three goals.
