SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb wants to see a reaction from his side when they travel to Evesham United on Saturday.

Marine were due to take on Mangotsfield United on Tuesday night but that game was postponed, forcing them to wait until this weekend to atone for their disappointing 4-2 defeat at home to Bishops Cleeve last time out in Southern League Division One South & West.

“We are all really disappointed with last Saturday. It is always difficult when you lose a game and when you have been on a good run, it is a bit of a shock,” said Webb.

“You have to put it into context, that is obviously just one game. It was always going to happen but now it is about how you react to that performance.

“We are up on our games so we don’t have a lot to catch up with and we aren’t in too bad of a position.

“To go on a run of 12 games unbeaten is a great achievement. I’ve said that to the players all the way along but we have to learn and get better.

“We didn’t come out of that Bishops Cleeve game with any credit at all and everybody knows that. I was open in my assessment, we were beaten by the better side on the day.”

Webb’s troops have a difficult month ahead, with games against Salisbury and league leaders Hereford also still to come.

With play-off aspirations to fulfill, Marine will need to make the most of this tricky period if they are to cement their spot in the top five.

But the Marine chief is excited by the fixtures his team have ahead of them, although his primary is focus is on Saturday’s outing to Worcestershire.

“We are playing a top side in Evesham. We know what they are about and they have some very good players throughout,” added the Marine chief.

“In some respects, I am quite pleased we are playing a top side because every player who puts on a blue shirt will know if we don’t perform, we will come away with nothing again.

“The next three games are all very difficult. We will look no further than the end of February and then see where we are after that.

“It’s tough at the top. We have dropped out of the top five spots and now it is our aim to get back in them.”
