FAIRFORD manager Gareth Davies believes consistency is the key as his side host Shrivenham at the weekend.

The league-leaders were due to play Oxford City Development in the Supplementary Cup on Tuesday night but that fixture fell victim to the weather.

This means Fairford will be fresh going into Saturday’s game, while Shrivenham did manage to play in the week, recording a 4-0 league win over Woodstock Town.

With just seven league fixtures remaining and his side sitting at the top of the table, Davies sees no reason why he should change a winning formula.

“We are just going to treat it as another game, we won’t change our preparation. We trained on Tuesday and to be fair the boys, looked sharp,” said Davies.

“I think they are looking forward to the weekend. We’ll do what we always do and try to get three points.

“They have had a week’s rest so they will go into the game fairly fresh and the strength in depth we have at the moment is very good.

“It’s probably the strongest squad we have had, everyone wants to play and it is a headache for me.”

Davies has also added Ryan Stanners to his squad, with the winger arriving from Hellenic Premier side Highworth Town.

After making his debut in last week’s 2-0 win over Swindon New College, Davies is delighted with his latest recruit.

“I think he had a bit of a falling out with the manager at Highworth and obviously Ryan wasn’t playing, he was happy to come here,” he added.

“He started last week and was superb. I think it would be a massive shame if he wasn’t playing. At the end of the day, he will improve anyone’s squad.”

Elsewhere, Purton will look to keep up their recent run of good form when they host Clanfield 85’ at the weekend.

Justin Miller’s men are currently going well in the league as they are unbeaten in their last six fixtures, with five wins and a draw to their name.

After their 3-0 win during the week, Swindon New College have the right to feel confident heading into their game with Cheltenham Saracens.

Just three points and one league position separate the two teams, with Cheltenham Saracens occupying 13th place in the Hellenic League Division One West, while Matt Cosnett’s side are in 14th.
