FAIRFORD Town manager Gareth Davies says that he will use tonight’s clash with Bristol Manor Farm as a yardstick for next season.

The Hellenic League Division One West leaders make the trip to the Toolstation League Premier Division champions-elect in the semi-final of the Gloucestershire FA Trophy as they look to keep their dreams of a treble alive.

Although the Cinder Lane outfit’s priority is winning the title and returning to the Hellenic League Premier Division, the Fairford chief is keen to take as much as possible out of tonight’s match.

While Davies’ present squad is more than capable to competing at the next level, the clash with Manor Farm will give Fairford an indication of what is required to be slugging it out at the higher echelons of the Premier Division.

“We can go there as underdogs and enjoy the match – there is zero pressure on us,” Davies said.

“We know that we have a squad capable of holding their own in the Premier Division, but when you play Toolstation League sides you know that they are strong and physical.

“But we can use this game as a benchmark for what areas we need to strengthen next season.”

Meanwhile, Purton will be looking to build on their 7-2 success over Woodstock Town on Saturday when they make the trip to Premier Division side Henley Town in the third round of the Supplementary Cup.
