MANAGER Dave Webb says nothing less than three points from Saturday’s ‘massive’ game at home to Tiverton Town will do as far as Swindon Supermarine’s Southern League Division One West play-off aspirations are concerned.

With four games to go, Marine are down in seventh in the table as they hunt a top-five finish and Webb has set his sights on reaching 80 points before the end of the campaign.

That means the South Marston side cannot afford to drop another point over the remainder of their run-in, although even that may not be enough for Marine as fifth-placed Evesham United already have a haul of 73 points in the final play-off spot.

Tiverton did Webb’s troops a favour by beating Evesham last weekend, although that has made the Marine boss even more wary of the threat that awaits them when the Devon side come to the Webbswood Stadium tomorrow.

“Saturday is massive for us but also very difficult,” said Webb.

“Tiverton are an excellent side but we can still post 80 points and while we can, I still think we are in with a chance – we have just got to believe we can win every game.

“Evesham have got the points on the board and are five points ahead of us still with four games to go but if they have another defeat and if we win, it brings us closer.

“We can’t afford to drop any more points and that’s a big ask at this stage of the season. We have played a lot of football and we have got a small squad, so it is a massive test for us.

“We have got four league games to go, plus the Wiltshire Senior Cup final. We have done pretty well this season and we want to try to finish on a high.

“We are going to go out and try to win every game and if that is not good enough, it’s not good enough, but at least we will have given it everything and had a real go.”

Marine were 3-2 winners when they made the trip to Tiverton for the reverse fixture back in January and Webb says nothing less than a performance of the same intensity will do this weekend.

“Tiverton are an excellent side. When we went there and won earlier in the season it was because we played brilliantly on the day,” said the Webbswood chief.

“Any team who goes to Tiverton and wins has got to really be at their best. We were that day and we need to reach that level again.”

Callum Parsons is unavailable this weekend as he serves the second of a three-game suspension but Marine are hoping to welcome back both Ryan Morgan and Joe Selman after they were absent from last weekend’s 2-1 win at Yate Town through injury and illness respectively.
