SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb reckons his side are in for a tough time when they travel to Gloucestershire to tackle Shortwood United tomorrow (3pm).

Webb takes his troops to the 12th-placed team on the back of a frustrating 2-2 draw with Tiverton Town at the Webbswood Stadium last weekend.

While Supermarine are six places above their opponents in sixth, Webb doesn’t want to read too much into Shortwood’s league position ahead of the game.

“It’ll be a tough game, as it always is. They won’t make it easy for us and no team does at this point in the season because nobody wants to lose,” said Webb.

“They’ll make it extremely difficult because they are a decent side. They’ve fallen away a little bit of late but they have some good players there.

“It’s going to be a tough game for us but our away form has been fantastic so hopefully we are going to another win.

“There are no easy games at this stage in the season, we just need to try and keep winning.

With three league games left to play, Supermarine find themselves seven points adrift of Evesham Town, who occupy the final play-off place.

While the chances of Webb’s outfit reaching the play-offs have been receding over recent weeks, the Marine boss insists there is plenty for his side still to play for.

“Last week was something to build on. We have three league games left and we have to try and win those three games,” said Webb.

“Who knows, if we win two and they (Evesham) lose two, it will go down to the final Saturday where anything can happen, so you never know.

“We have to take care of our three games and see where it will take us.

“We have a Wiltshire Senior Cup final with Highworth Town to look forward to as well. Then we try and keep this group together, maybe add one or two and have a really good concerted effort next season.

“We are in sixth position, which is a great effort from everyone. When you look at it in the cold light of day, it is a good effort.

“I just hope we can win our last three games and a cup final so we will get some silverware to finish the season on a high.”
