CHIPPENHAM Town boss Mark Collier declared himself "thrilled to bits'' after his team were crowned Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division champions this afternoon - without kicking a ball.

Collier's Bluebirds were confirmed as the title winners after nearest rivals Leamington, who needed a win to extend the fight to at least tomorrow, were defeated 2-0 at Biggleswade Town.

It means Town's home match against St Neots Town at Hardenhuish Park tomorrow afternoon (3pm) will be a title celebration, Collier's men having wrapped up the crown with three matches to spare.

Collier was watching Swindon Town's goalless Skybet League One draw with AFC Wimbledon at the County Ground this afternoon - admitting he was desperately trying to avoid updates from Biggleswade - when news of his side's title triumph came through.

The Hardenhuish Park chief told the Gazette & Herald: "It's fantastic and I'm thrilled to bits.

"It means we can put on a bit of a show tomorrow against St Neots in front of what will hopefully be a big crowd at Hardenhuish Park.

"It's been a magnificent effort from everybody, from the chairman all to way to the tea lady.

"I need to get my head around what has gone on really, but with three games (of the season) to go, it means we can enjoy it a bit now.''

Chippenham will be promoted to National League South next season after stringing together an astonishing 23-match unbeaten run stretching back to last November to wrap up the league title.

Collier, who previously took Swindon Supermarine to the second round proper of the FA Cup, admitted this season's achievement overshadowed his previous ones in the game.

"It's got to be right up there,'' he added. "Taking Swindon Supermarine to the second round of the FA Cup was great, but this has got to be better than that.

"Over 46 games, of the season the table doesn't lie. It's a tough, unforgiving league and it looks like we are going to win it with something to spare.

"I'm so proud to be manager of Chippenham Town Football Club and of everybody involved with it.

"I'll have a quiet drink tonight, look forward to tomorrow's game and then have a few more after that.''
