JUSTIN Miller’s last game in the Purton hot-seat didn’t quote go to plan as they lost 3-2 away to Cheltenham Saracens.

Ed Herbert gave the visitors the lead in the first-half before the Hellenic Division One West side were pegged back to 1-1

Herbert then struck again to drag his team back into contention at 2-2, before eventually losing 3-2 in their final game of the season.

“It is difficult because you don’t really have anything to play for in the last couple of games in the season,” said Miller.

“Availability has been pretty poor, Easter weekend isn’t great. It is disappointing to end that way but it is what it is.

“I would have been nice to finish fourth or fifth but we have dropped too many points over the season to teams in the bottom four.

“We dropped around 14 points. Not because we aren’t good enough just because we have played them at bad times and it costs you.

“We took the lead and they equalised. Then they took the lead and we equalised. For the third we went all out to try and finish as high as we can.

Miller announced he won’t be returning to the club next season and remains unsure what he wants to do next term.

“I’m not there next year. I have had a good three years and I have enjoyed it but it’s there for someone else to take over,” he added.

“I’m not ruling anything out because I enjoy it so we will see what happens.”

Manager Miller found himself in the more unusual position of goalkeeper for their narrow away defeat.

He said: “It was alright really. To be fair I didn’t have a lot to do really but I was at fault for the third one because I thought I had it.

“The ball got played through and he got there before me. I didn’t have any real saves to make but obviously it’s not great.”

Elsewhere, Fairford Town and Shrivenham were also in action with the former grabbing a 3-2 away win over Milton United while the latter lost 1-0 at home to Letcombe.

New College recorded their ninth league win of the season when they saw off second-bottom Tytherington Rocks 2-0 at home.
