TAWNY Owl manager Anthony Pascarella has challenged his Swindon & District League Premier Division title winners to cap a perfect league campaign with one more win this coming weekend.

A midweek victory over Swindon Spitfires moved Tawny into an unassailable position at the top of the table and they put the icing on the cake of their successful title defence on Saturday with a 14-2 thrashing of North Swindon WMC.

Lewis Waldon led the way with an astonishing eight-goal haul, Scott Price scored four times, while Danny Hyde and Dan Cole also chipped in.

One more victory for Tawny at home to Swindon Centurians next weekend will see Pascarella’s side match their heroics of last season by winning every one of their league fixtures.

“I’m not sure when we actually sealed the title because we have just been concentrating on finishing with that 100 per cent record. I think it might have been last Thursday against Spitfires but whenever it was, we’re just glad to have got the job done,” said Pascarella.

“It was our biggest win of the year on Saturday but I’m not sure it was the best performance, I think we were better in the third round of the Wiltshire Junior Cup when we won 9-2 (against Calne Eagles).

“Everyone played well on Saturday and we took our chances. Lewis was on fire and he probably could have had a few more goals. He is a good player and he uses his pace really well.

“With the title won, we can relax a little bit now. We have got one league game left on Saturday and then the Adver Cup final the week after.

“We want to win this weekend because it’ll set us up nicely for the final but more importantly, we want to finish with that 100 per cent record.”

Elsewhere, victory for Sportz Central in their final game this coming weekend will see them finish third after they beat Swindon Centurians 3-1 on Saturday.

Stephen Hughes struck twice and Michael Cox and Phil Legace got a goal apiece as Swindon Spitfires won 4-2 at FC Dorcan, for whom George Bouverie-Beine and Jake Kitchin replied.

Sport 4 Pinehurst thrashed Wroughton Reserves 8-1 to move within one win of the Division One title. Ryan Welland bagged a brace, while Kevin Dunn, Jonathan Peachey-Score, Luke Richards, Malcolm Cook, Brad Stanners and Aaron Welland were also on target.

Todd Mears’ treble helped Core Construction edge out Chiseldon 4-3. Neil Mitcham completed the rout, with Francesco Hunt, Arron Smith and Daniel Vaughan replying for Chiseldon.

New Town All Stars won 4-2 at bottom side Swindon AFC, while the match between Lower Stratton and Old Town United ended in a 2-2 draw.
