AFTER winning the Wiltshire League earlier this year, Swindon Spitfires added their second piece of silverware after winning their first-ever Wiltshire County Cup against Trowbridge Town.

Spitfires piled on the pressure and in the 24th minute, captain Claire Moreton’s pass allowed Katie Wadey to score.

Trowbridge levelled as Lauren Gowen’s shot took a deflection over Shona Hanlon and the west Wiltshire outfit then grabbed the lead through Mia Blazey.

In the second half, Spitfires fought hard for an equaliser and on 51 minutes, Wadey was fouled in the area and the resulting penalty was calmly slotted home by Sarah Stacey.

Spitfires took the lead on 56 minutes as Stacey scored her second, but Blazey found the net to restore parity.

Charley Reynolds came on for Natalia Wilson and with her first kick, her corner found Moreton, who headed home to secure Spitfires a 4-3 win in their 50th anniversary year.
