SWINDON Town Ladies will go into their final game of the season knowing a point against Queens Park Rangers Ladies will be enough to renew their Women’s Premier League Southern Division status for a another year.

Steve Robertson’s side are second-from-bottom, three points clear of the West-London club, with eight points and a vastly superior goal difference.

“We have put ourselves in a good position to try and stay in the league and I am glad it has gone to the last game,” said the Town Ladies chief.

“We still have something to play for, we aren’t just seeing the season out for no reason. It is almost like a cup final for us.

“I expect QPR to play with no pressure, we still have something to play for. I don’t expect an easy game and they will make it as difficult as possible for us.

“They’ll want to finish their season on a high as much as we do, so it is important we focus.”

Robertson’s troops will also play their final fixture of the year at the County Ground, something he thinks will suit his side tomorrow afternoon.

“The squad we have at the moment is very much a footballing squad so I think big pitch with the open playing surface is a good thing,” he added. “But I am sure QPR will be relishing the opportunity to come and play on it as well.

“Hopefully it will work in our favour. It is quite a nice treat for the girls after a long and hard season.

“We managed to get out on the pitch for some training so we have got used to what we will be playing on, so that will be an advantage as well.”

This is the first season at this level for both the club and the manager Robertson, who admits he has learnt a lot from this campaign.

“We have settled right down now coming into the last few games, and squad-wise this is where we want to be,” he said.
