Swindon Spitfires U15s helped extend the celebrations in the club’s 50th anniversary year as they sealed a double in the Oxford Mail League by beating Crowmarsh 4-1 in the final of the cup.

Spits dominated the match right from the kick-off and Gen Bayliss’ pass allowed Shannon King to score and from 18 yards to break the deadlock after just 11 minutes.

Their lead was doubled 10 minutes before the break as a Kacie Anderson cross allowed King tap-in to score her second.

There was still time for Spits to pull further clear before the teams headed back to the changing rooms as Chloe Neates’ cross was turned home by Amiee Prinzi.

Crowmarsh did pull a goal back in the second half but a comeback never looked likely as Spitfires added a fourth two minutes from time when Anderson struck with a fine solo effort, which rebounded off the post past the stranded keeper.

Meanwhile, Spitfires U12s finished as runners up in the Wiltshire League cup final, going down 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out to Melksham Town after an extremely close match finished 2-2.

Spits scored first through a long-range free-kick from Alana Hunt but Melksham were able to level just before half-time.

No goals arrived in the second half, sending the contest to extra time, but from there, the floodgates opened again.

Melksham got their noses in front early on but Spitfires leveled in the second period through Romee Bryan to send the match to penalties.

Goals from Shola Culley and Alana Hunt from the spot were not quite enough for Spits as Melksham ended up edging to a 3-2 success.
