HELLENIC League Division One West champions Fairford Town have named former Forest Green Rovers boss Chris Smith and Jody Bevan as the club’s new management team.
The duo will take control at Cinder Lane following the departure of Gareth Davies, assistant Ady Roper and coaches Darren McCluskey and Chris Robinson following their Hellenic League Division One-winning campaign this season.
The experienced Smith is well-known on the local football circuit, having played for the likes of Cheltenham Town, Gloucester City, Forest Green Rovers, Newport and Bath City.
He subsequently served as assistant manager at Weston-Super-Mare and enjoyed management spells with Cinderford Town, Forest Green and Cirencester Town.
Bevan, 38, played more than 600 games and scored over 250 goals, winning four promotions during a Southern League career that saw hyim play for the likes of Cinderford Town, Weston-Super-Mare, Gloucester City, Shortwood United and Cirencester Town.
After the end of his playing career he became assistant manager at Cirencester Town and holds an FA Level Two coaching qualification in addition to a Bsc Hons degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences.
