HIGHWORTH Town's unblemished start to the Hellenic League Premier Division season continued as they came through an eventful Bank Holiday Monday battle with local rivals Royal Wootton Bassett Town 3-2 at The Elms.

Jeff Roberts' side made it five wins from five as they continued to set the pace at the top of the standings, although the needed to come from behind against a Bassett outfit still searching for their first three-pointer of the campaign.

The Worthians fell behind 10 minutes before half-time when some poor defending allowed Callum Wright to find the net for the opening goal for Bassett.

But the game started to turn in the hosts' direction when the visitors' Kai Robinson was sent off and Bassett's number's were further reduced when Steve Yeardley saw red, although Highworth were unable to get back on terms as they missed a penalty.

A second spot-kick followed and Aysa Corrick restored parity for the home side, who then seized the advantage when Dan Drewitt's cross was headed home by Corrick.

The points were secured as Corrick turned provider with the pass for Jake Slocombe to net the third, although Bassett did have the last word when Sam Packer scored in the dying moments.

Fairford Town are still without a win in the top flight after they went down 1-0 at Abingdon United.

Joe Hartley scored the only goal after 17 minutes in Oxfordshire and the home side also missed a penalty as Ben Mitchell saved Ryan Barney's spot-kick
