CRICKLADE Town returned to the top of the Wiltshire Senior League Premier Division table as Matty Bennett’s hat-trick helped to dispose of Corsham Town Reserves on Saturday.

With previous pole-sitters Melksham Town Reserves seeing their trip to Pewsey Vale Development postponed, Bennett took his goals tally to 12 for the season to fire Cricklade back to the summit.

Wroughton, in third place, were surprised 2-1 at home by Marlborough Town, with Valentin Rascanescu scoring both goals for the winners as Shane Hibbert replied for Wroughton.

The villagers dropped a place, to be replaced by Shrewton United after they beat Devizes Town Reserves, who had Jamie Hall and Adam Bewley on target, 6-2.

Fifth-placed Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development drew 3-3 with Westbury United Reserves, who led early on through skipper Martin Johnson’s strike.

Aaron Steven’s deflected effort restored parity for Bassett before Ryan Withers headed the home side in front before half-time.

Otis Young got Westbury back on level terms in the second period but Joe Miller capitalised on a spill from the visiting keeper to score Bassett’s third.

Ferris Lambaret ensured honours were even come full-time as he volleyed in the leveller for Westbury.

Cup specialists Bremhill are still searching for their first league win of the campaign after slipping to a 5-0 loss at Kintbury.
