SWINDON Supermarine's two-month wait for a Southern League West away win continued tonight as they slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Shortwood United.

The visitors suffered an early blow when they lost Ryan Morgan, who was replaced by Kieran Diaz-Benitez, but Dave Webb's men took the lead just after the half hour when Brad Hooper found the top corner.

United though were level before half-time as Liam Meredith equalised.

With under 15 minutes remaining the hosts went ahead as Nick Humphreys found the net and, as Marine pushed for an equaliser, United's Jordan Morris added the third in injury time.

Ten-man Fairford Town saw their unbeaten run in the Hellenic League Premier Division come to an end with a 2-1 defeat at Lydney Town tonight.

The visitors made a quick-fire start with the opening goal 15 minutes in.

Lee Smith's sweet free-kick struck the bar but Shane Bumphrey reacted first to smash the ball into the empty net for his first goal in Fairford colours.

However the home side soon composed themselves and were level on 27 minutes as Lewis Halford struck a low free kick into the bottom right-hand corner to make it 1-1.

On 35 minutes it was 2-1 as top scorer Ross Gabriel nodded home from a corner - his eighth of the campaign.

Fairford were reduced to 10 men shortly before the break as goalscorer Bumphrey was shown a straight red card for bad language.

The hosts dominated the second period, with an injury-time effort from Josh Gregory saved to deny the visitors a share of the spoils.
