SWINDON Supermarine manager Lee Spalding says his troops need to back up their result at the weekend with another victory at home to Yate Town in Southern League West this evening.

After recording their first defeat under manager interim boss Spalding earlier this month, Marine hit back with a thumping 5-1 win at home to Shortwood United on Saturday.

Now they come up against a Yate side sitting comfortably in in the middle of the table.

With a play-off spot still the aim come the end of the season, Spalding wants to see a repeat performance from his side as they look to make it back-to-back wins for the first time since December.

“It is a quick turnaround from the weekend and we are up against Yate, who are a very good side,” said Spalding.

“I have seen them play a couple of times, they have some really good players so it will be a tough game for us.

“We will need to do the same again. We need to give 100 per cent and then I’m sure we will be right up for it.”

While Spalding admits he has a few injury concerns, he also states that he isn’t too worried about being light as competition for places is fierce.

So much so that right-back MaCauley Dodson has been shipped out to Hellenic League Division One West side Shrivenham in the hunt for game time.

Spalding also revealed Josh Parsons and Joe Shepherd are both in with a chance of being fit, but will both need late fitness tests.

“We have a few injuries at the moment. Josh Parsons is still waiting to see the physiotherapist, so he will have to be assessed before the game,” said Spalding.

“Ash Taylor is still coming back from on injury and Joe Shepard is still at doubt at the moment as well.

“So, we do have a few players out but the competition for places is massive right now, which is really good.

“It’s great because it keeps everyone on their toes, they are all playing for the shirt so it is a great headache for me.”

The last time the two teams met was back on November 11 and Yate were 2-0 winners over a Marine side then under the management of Dave Webb.
