WILTS LEAGUE: Rare defeat for Sanford

FC SANFORD suffered just their third defeat of the season in the Wiltshire League Premier Division, as Corsham Town Reserves turned the form book upside down.

Corsham had only won once all season before their visit to the Swindon side, but stunned their hosts 2-1 at Supermarine.

After a goalless first half, Bradley Gill gave Sanford the lead midway through the second period.

But the visitors responded in superb style by scoring twice on the break to take a shock victory.

Sanford boss Les Gill admitted: “No excuses, they deserved their victory. They were up for it and wanted it more than we did.”

Wroughton were beaten at home by Vale Of Pewsey as the visitors ran out 2-0 winners at the Weir Field.

A free kick from Barry Foster gave Pewsey the lead at the break, with Tom Ballard making the points safe after half time.

Purton Reserves and Marlborough Town shared the points in a 3-3 draw. Darren Brown (2) and Reece Gilliver netted for the Red House side.

Purton boss Albert Dearing said: “It was end to end stuff and both sides had chances to score a couple more goals in the closing stages.”

SKS Blyskawica gained a 2-0 win over visitors Ludgershall Sports thanks to a goal in each half from Ashley Chapman and Jeremy Hope.

Moredon FC were beaten 3-1 at Calne, with Tom Slater giving the home side the lead early in the game, before Dave Rendle levelled before the interval.

Andy Law gave the hosts the lead again soon after the restart and a 30-yard effort from James Derbyshire ensured victory.

In Division One, FC Sanford Reserves were beaten 3-0 at Marshfield, while AFC Wroughton won 4-0 at Marlborough Town Reserves and Intel lost 2-1 at home to Malmesbury Vics Reserves.

Old Town Wanderers scored four without reply at Wilton and Ashton Keynes crushed Lower Stratton 7-3.
