SWINDON’S Zero Two finished third as it tried to become an Arc Cup winner for local trainer Matt Dartnall.
Zero Two was unable to catch King Dec as gave Rab and Liz McNair, and their owners, the KSS Syndicate, a second successive win in the cup when he flew out and made all in the £8,000-to-the-winner Category One at Swindon last night.
Shaneboy Alley had done the business for them last year, and this time, a night that saw every favourite beaten in the eight Sky Sports races, it was race over when the lids went up and the 8-1 King Dec trapped clear.
It was particulary sweet for the McNairs because their dog is a home bred, and had already earned them £500 for the achievement in reaching the final.
He now goes for the William Hill Derby. He will also return to the Swindon for the Produce Stakes.
Islas Scolari plugged on for second, three lengths behind the 28.57 second winner.
Zero Two, who had shown early for Dartnall, took third.
All About Ya and favourite Sidaz Harris got tangled up on the opening bends, both were struggling after slow starts.
