LOCAL players took the honours last weekend in six of the 20 finals staged at the Bowls Wiltshire two-day finals at Devizes.

The Purton trio of Eric Collier, Colin Baker and Dave Mitchell enjoyed a comfortable 19-10 success over Chippenham Park in the Over 60s final, while Julia Hunt, Deanne Davis and Dave Woodbridge came from behind to win the BW Officers Triples.

Graham Hatherall retained his two wood singles, while Jake Webster and Mike Titcombe also successfully defended their BW Under 21 pairs title.

Michael Richards also won the U25 singles title with a closely fought 21-18 success over Highworth’s James Richman.

Westlecot may have won three finals but lost in three also.

The trio of Maureen Marwood, Betty Thomas and Marian Johns went down 22-8 in the County Benevolent Triples.

While Mel Biggs was beaten 21-10 in the singles final and then teamed -up with Mike Jackson in the defence of the men’s pairs championship.

Wroughton’s Brian Coles just missed-out winning the greenkeepers singles final against Chippenham Park’s Gerry Tinson.

Meanwhile Town Gardens Tom Pittuck lost in the men’s champion of champions final, 21-8, and Highworth’s Jenny Wilson went down 16-11 in the ladies unbadged final.
