MAX Hazell won The Cotswold Triathlon for the second year running from an entry list of 650 split over a number of categories.

The 19-year-old from Bradford upon Avon won in a time of 56:17, but he had some strong competition from 17 year old Kieran Hill of Trowbridge (Jackpot Racing).

Hill pulled away from Hazell on the bike, but early into the run Hazell took control and went on to win so Hill had to settle for second. With Nick Slim of Tewkesbury Tri taking the third Elite place, some two minutes down.

In the women's elite section Nicole Walters, Bath Amphibians, led from start to finish and was never challenged winning in 1:01:08 from Somerset's Shirley Yarde. Gloucester’s Tanya Patient was third overall but racing in the age group wave so took 30-34 prize.

There were age group winners from Wiltshire including Bethan Rhodes from Malmesbury who took the F20-24 trophy, Rob Abrahams from Luckington won M25-29, and Adam Giles of Lyneham, M30-34 category.

In the youth event, over the shorter distance, Will Crudgington of Total Fitness Bath and Swindon’s Megan Jones took the trophies.

With ideal conditions there were several PB’s for those who come back year after year to do the event, whilst many first time triathletes commented what a great time they had and how friendly and helpful all the marshals were.
