SWINDON were edged as they continued their pre-season programme in Wotton.

Swindon made the short trip missing three key players but still fielding a strong team with Chris Parsons and Lewis Dyer in the centre of midfield, captain Luke Cejer on the left of midfield providing the creativity.

The first half saw Swindon dominate and create wave after wave of attacks, though the chances went begging.

The home side picked up three yellow cards during the opening half but Swindon still could not take advantage of the additional player and missed chances by the Swindon forwards were to prove costly. After the break the hosts come out a stronger more organised team, now playing their part in a frantic end to end game.

They made the visitors pay for their wastefulness grabbing a goal late on in the half.

The ball slipped through a couple of half tackles from the Swindon defenders the two Wotton forwards combined to easily beat Gough in the Swindon goal. Swindon tried to respond and stepped up a gear in the final few minutes of the game forcing the Wotton keeper made some decent saves late on. Though chances went begging it was a case of too little, too late for the visitors.

Swindon face Stroud in their last pre-season friendly at Isambard School at 12.30pm.

Swindon travel to Swansea for their opening league game of the 14/15 season on Saturday, September 27.
