A MUCH-changed Raychem A side claimed a 69-37 win over Nationwide A.

Lizzie Boston and newly married Chelsey Fizgibbon returned to the side, however, defender Jacqui Sealey was unavailable, saving her legs for the Bristol half marathon.

With team manager Claire Baverstock in Sheffield attending the England Netball conference and awards ceremony, Jo Worrall took on the coaching duties.

Raychem started strongly with Beth Woodward, Holly King and Lisa Heath taking turnovers and moving the ball swiftly and easily through the court to shooters Helen Gray and goal shooter Nicky Lawrence.

Raychem finished the first quarter with a 16-9 lead. The defence stepped up a level in the second quarter with King and Heath taking athletic intercepts and centre Danni Bateman showing her usual combative mid-court skills, taking a few tumbles in her desire to win the ball.

With a half time score of 27-18, coach Worrall was able to introduce fresh legs bringing on Boston to wing attack, Fitzgibbon to goal defence and Steph Bonehill to centre.

With increased energy levels, Raychem kept up the pressure and built their lead to 49-27 at the end of the third quarter.

In the final quarter, playmaker Dawn Greenberg was reintroduced at goal attack and Woodward returned to the defensive circle to see the game out.

Greenberg’s work around the circle edge created space for player of the match Lawrence to shoot with ease while Woodward continued to use her height to great advantage closing out the shooter.

Elsewhere, Raychem B defeated Croft B 50-29, Raychem D beat Moredon C 56-17 and Raychem F saw off Lawn E 37-19.

However Raychem C lost to Fairford in division two and Raychem E lost to Jets in division four.

Abbey Meads B wrapped up a convincing win over Delta Reds B.

With an impressive score of 58-24 Abbey B played a calm and controlled game winning every quarter.

Superb teamwork from the midfield trio of Maria Hawkins, Beth Sawyer and Sian Waite ensured that the attacking circle were consistently fed quality balls which the Abbey shooters converted with style.

Katie Halpin held strong and Natalie John ghosted in and out, leaving Delta’s defence in confusion.
