Swindon’s Esprit Gymnastics can already boast an impressive record when it comes to creating sporting champions.

But the club can also now add a new generation to its hall of fame.

It’s Group gymnasts, under the guidance of a great team of coaches, led by head coach Cherie Skeats, are really starting to forge a name for themselves on the national stage, with fantastic results at British Group Championships and National Group League 2014.

With both competitions held in Walsall recently, Esprit’s three groups from Espoirs through to Seniors produced outstanding performances to dominate the event.

Group gymnastics is fast becoming one of the most popular Rhythmic disciplines in the UK and Esprit are leading the way, with strength in depth across the ages.

After a solid year Esprit’s youngest Espoir gymnasts secured a very impressive third in the National Group League before outstanding performances took them one step higher with a fantastic silver medal in the British Championships.

The club’s juniors dominated both the Group League and the British Championships with outstanding performances to secure first overall in the British Junior Group Championships and first in the National Group League for two well-deserved gold medals and British titles.

The Seniors, whilst not having a league, dominated the British Championships and retained the title they also won last year.

Even more impressively they did so by a massive six-point margin from the second place team.

Skeats said: “These were incredible performances, in a very talented field of the country’s best gymnasts.

“We are all really proud of the gymnasts and the dedicated team of coaches involved.

“To produce one British champion is incredible, but to now hold both the Junior and Senior titles as well as winning the National Group League is more than we could have hoped.

“The gymnasts all work incredibly hard and deserve their success.”
