GARY Turland is excited by the prospect of bringing an MMA show to Swindon in the new year.

Alex Brunnan and Phil Wells are set to headline the Raged UK event at the MECA on March 7.

Turland, formerly one of the men behind the Swindon Fightclub franchise, has teamed up with former fighter Michael ‘Oz’ Osbourne for the show.

“This is the biggest show of its kind to come to Swindon,” said Turland.

“There is a demand for MMA shows. Swindon has had a lot of boxing but this is something different and a lot of people from out of town are wanting to get in on the action.

“It is quite an extreme sport and is one of the fastest growing sports in the country, and the fans are so passionate.

“This is a great chance for people in Swindon to see MMA live and understand more about the sport.

“I am quite excited about the fights we have got lined up and I think there is something for everyone.

“It is a great chance to bring on some of the new amateur talents as well as showcase the more established pros like Phil Wells and Alex Brunnen.

“It is going to be an unforgettable night of fighting for those who understand the sport and for those who don’t, it will be a great introduction, and I am sure people will want more.”

The majority of the fighters will come from the successful Scorpion and SVT gyms, with the card featuring both pro and amateur fights.

Tickets cost £20 or £40 VIP, and are available from The Forum, The Khyber or www.swindontickets.co.uk.
