PROMOTER Gary Turland has promised a string of quality fights when he brings an MMA show to Swindon in early March.

Turland, formerly one of the men behind the Swindon Fightclub franchise, has teamed up with former fighter Michael ‘Oz’ Osbourne to put on the Raged UK show at the MECA on March 7.

Alex Brunnan and Phil Wells are set to headline the event and some of the town’s top amateur fighters are also scheduled to feature.

Turland said: “It’s hugely entertaining, and these guys really put it all on the line.

“They all have day jobs, families and a life outside of the ring, which shows that their level of commitment is phenomenal.

“The amateur fighters will be fighting under full unified amateur rules, sometimes referred to as NSAC rules.

“Unlike some amateur events, this will feature head shots, ground and pound, all with 6-7oz gloves.”

Swindon’s Adam Little faces Reese Pearson, of Cheltenham, in a highly-anticipated clash, with both fighters looking to progress to the next level in MMA.

Fresh off his first amateur victory, Craig Rawlins takes on Ryan Gram, while Tom Enstone is up against Jim Lane in what is expected to be a lively bout.

Swindon’s Dean Hart returns to the cage after a year out and is hoping to come back with a bang when he squares off against Cardiff fighter Kane Goldup.

Also making an appearance is experienced Scorpion Gym kick-boxer Sami Salem, who will be fighting under K1 rules against professional MMA fighter Tyler Thomas.

Turland added: “With six weeks to go the event is set to sell out. Tickets are going fast already and VIP spots are almost all gone.

“Don’t leave it until the last minute, grab them while you can. You save £5 from the door price if you buy in advance.”

Tickets cost £20 or £40 VIP and are available from the Forum, the Khyber and www.swindontickets.co.uk.
