A DEPLETED Swindon Shock have a chance to clinch their first national league play-off berth after back-to-back wins at the weekend.

On the Saturday they returned home from Thames Valley Cavaliers with a 79-71 victory in in EBL National Division Four before following that up with a 73-62 success over Oxford Stealers the following day.

Against, the Cavaliers, Shock were only able to list seven players but led throughout the match and despite a third quarter that saw the hosts draw level, the Swindon side found their game in the final session with both Matt Ford and Matt North making big shots.

The effort Thames Valley made in fighting back from a near double-digit deficit took its toll and the visitors returned home happy.

North and Ford top scored with 22 points apiece, while Dave Colclough chipped in with nine points.

Then against Oxford, a Shock side almost back to full strength came out flying, holding Oxford scoreless for nearly six minutes of the first quarter.

Swindon forced Oxford into turnovers and rushed shots and ended the quarter leading 16-4.

The second quarter was much tighter and with Swindon star man Wilburn picking up his third foul coach Colcolugh had to turn to his bench.

However, Dan Chambers made three three-pointers as Shock took a 37-25 lead at half-time.

Swindon expected Oxford to turn up the intensity in the third but they weathered the storm again, winning 23-18.

Game management and patience in offence was the theme for the fourth quarter and, much like at Thames Valley, Shock found their shooters and secured a hard-fought win.

Shock now face Woking at the Academy (4pm) on Saturday looking to secure a play-off berth for the first time.
