SWINDON's golf croquet team were beaten 11-9 when they hosted a team from Nailsea.
The honours were even in the four doubles games, with Elaine Wheeler and Yvonne Turner winning 7-4 and Rose Mortimer, alongside Tony Tomlin, triumphing 7-6. Garry Douell and Bill Marner, and Jenny Walklate and Wendy White, both lost 7-4.
In the singles, Marner won three games, Douell had two and Walklate and Turner won one each. Both Wheeler and Walklate took their opponents to the golden hoop but were unable to gain the upper hand.
The Association B Team visited Llandaff and lost 4-1.
The doubles team of Roger Bedells and Tony Mayer managed to hold their own until time was called, when the Llandaff pair scored two more hoops to win 10-8, while Bill Marner was beaten 14 -8.
In the afternoon, Mayer lost 14-5 and Bedells was beaten 11-8 on time, but Marner did manage a convincing 14-3 success to save Swindon from the whitewash.
