TWO Phoenix Taekwondo students travelled to London to compete in the UITF World Championships, with Frank Wall returning with a global title.

The 41-year-old, from Eldene, came through to clinch top honours, while 12-year-old and Travis Waite, from Ferndale, secured a bronze medal, only narrowly losing to the Polish champion, the eventual winner.

Both students followed up their double gold success at the English and National tournaments, achieved under the guidance of instructor John Newman.

Wall began training just over two-and-a-half years ago, has since lost more than two stone and is now targeting his black belt in April. Waite joined the club and also lost a stone in weight within the first six months.
