SWINDON Cycle Speedway Club were victorious in the South West Rose Bowl Fours competition in Oxfordshire.

They defeated both Exeter and Hellingly (Eastbourne) to win the event for the first time in their history.

The match was closely fought throughout but, with the other teams making mistakes, Swindon’s team, lead by former world champion Steve Harris, capitalised on the others misfortune to take victory with a race to spare.

Swindon’s season comes to a climax this Sunday when they race in the end of season play-off final at Exeter.

The club, after such a successful season, will then be keeping a close eye on developments over the winter regarding the Oasis as the new development has no plans to include a track within the new complex.
