MOREDON Netball Club had a mixed weekend in the Swindon & District League, winning two of their matches and losing one.

In Division Three, Moredon C took on Abbey Meads D with both teams having struggled to find form to date.

Moredon started strongly, gaining an early lead that they maintained throughout the match. Abbey Meads put up a good fight and during the second quarter started to pull back, but Moredon won the game 43-32, with Marie Thompson (goal defence) being awarded player of the match.

Moredon’s A team also found success in Division One against Croft A, with the score neck-and-neck after the first quarter.

Moredon edged ahead during the second quarter, only for Croft to reclaim the lead heading into the final period before losing out 47-39.

Moredon B weren’t as successful, losing to Pinehurst B 54-26, despite some fine shooting from player of the match Jenny Carter.

Also in Division Two, Fairford A played Raychem C, winning 46-17.

In Division Four, both Wootton Bassett A and B secured wins in two high-scoring games.

The B team played Jets B, taking the win 51-31. Grace Evans had a superb game, starting her career as centre and Kirsty Freeth received the player of the match accolade.

The A team maintained their unbeaten record, defeating Ferndale 70-17 as Holly Woodridge was named player of the match.

In the same division, Pinehurst D faced a tough match against Raychem E, eventually coming through 33-29. Raychem F played Croft F in Division Five, beating them 51-31.

Lawn C beat Delta Reds B 29-28, having trailed by six at the end of the first half as Charlotte Arnold was awarded player of the match.

The A team lost to Razzle Dazzle 55-50, the B team losing to Burmah B 48-47 and the D team losing 28-20 to Faringdon.

Lawn had more success in the over 35s league, beating both Raychem and Moredon, 39-20 and 39-23 respectively.
