SWINDON swimmer Jazz Carlin landed her fifth World Cup medal in the space of a week as she secured a third-placed finish in the 400m freestyle final.

Having picked up two silver medals in the Doha leg of the eight-meet series in the 400m and 800m freestyle, the Tigersharks swimmer followed that up with a silver in the 800m freestyle and a bronze in the 200m freestyle, in Dubai on Friday.

In her final event of the World Cup series, Carlin qualified for the final of the 400m freestyle on Saturday morning with a third fastest time of 4:13.00.

In the final the 25-year-old was always off the pace of eventual winner Lauren Boyle and second-placed Katinka Hosszu.

Carlin was almost a second behind come the second turn and by the halfway stage Kiwi Boyle had drawn out a two second advantage on the Swindon swimmer.

The two-time European champion, finished in a time 4:07.27, three seconds slower than gold medallist Boyle, 4.04.26, and just behind Hosszu, 4:06.97.
