ROYAL Wootton Bassett tennis club were the big winners at the Wiltshire LTAs AEGON British Tennis Awards ceremony.

The club collected two awards where they were presented with the Club Award as well as chairman David Lukens collecting the Outstanding Achievement Award for all his tremendous work with the relocation of the club.

The Wiltshire Tennis Academy based in Swindon also collected two awards with head coach Stephen Yeardley named Coach of the Year Award, while Jacob Vizor winning the Young Volunteer Award Other award winners was Simon White from Salisbury TC winning the Volunteer Award, Swindon Community Tennis winning the Community Venue Award, Riverside Tennis Club in Salisbury won the Disability Tennis Programme Award and Ramsbury Primary School won the Education Award. Wiltshire LTA also presented three awards in addition to the AEGON British Tennis Awards.

Amelia Bissett of Devizes and Team Bath collected the player of the year award, while Riverside’s Keith Chapman picked up the Unsung Hero gong and Wiltshire’s Under 12s girls county cup side were named team of the year.

Wiltshire LTAs Roger Henry said: “The standard of the entries was really high and we’d like to congratulate all of the winners for their achievement.”

The winners of the AEGON British Tennis Awards now go through to a regional judging panel with regional winners announced in April.
