TEAM principle Simon Belcher has promised to unveil a ‘proven race winner’ when Handy Motorsport reveal their new driver signing later this week.

The announcement will be made at the annual Autosport International Show at the NEC in Birmingham on Thursday, when the team’s car for the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season will also be unveiled.

Handy Motorsport will enter its third BTCC campaign in 2016 and Belcher is excited about his new driver, who will pilot the squad’s challenger during the coming 30 race championship.

“Everyone has been working so hard behind the scenes to get our 2016 plans to the position they’re at now – this week is when we can finally go public,” said Belcher.

“It is an incredibly exciting time for Handy Motorsport, we’ve enjoyed two fantastic years in the BTCC and, now we’ve gained a foothold, the time is right to turn things up a notch.

“We’re very excited to be competing with a newly built car this year, but the biggest development is bringing in a proven winner to lead our challenge.

“We’re confident, when the unveiling takes place, there will be a lot of happy faces among our fantastic fans, and fans of the BTCC in general.

“We’ll be organising ‘meet and greet’ autograph sessions on the Handy and Legends stand across all four days of the show, and we’re looking forward to seeing as many people as possible.

“We might even have a few goodies to giveaway too.”

Handy also plans to run last year’s Toyota Avensis alongside its new car as part of an expanded line-up this season, and work is ongoing behind the scenes to make everything come to fruition – either with Belcher at the wheel or another competitor.
