LOUISE Hunt clinched her first title of the year as she lifted the women's doubles title with Kgothatso Montjane at the Melbourne Open.

Wanborough ace Hunt, 24, and South Africa's Montjane clinched their first title together as the second seeds defeated China’s Hui Min Huang and Zhenzhen Zhu 6-4, 6-2.

Hunt and Montjane had come through two women’s doubles matches in one day to reach their final.

They defeated American duo Kaitlyn Verfuerth and Dana Mathewson 7-5, 6-4 in their quarter-final before beating French third seeds Charlotte Famin and Emmanuelle Morch 6-4, 6-3 in the semi-finals.

Hunt had bowed out in the women's singles despite a fine start against Germany’s Katharina Kruger, losing out 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, but the 2012 Paralympian's doubles success was part of a trio of British wins at the event.

Andy Lapthorne warmed up for the Australian Open with his first quad singles title of 2016 and partnered Antony Cotterill to clinch the quad doubles title.
