THE Scott Redding Young Riders Academy is moving to the Swindon Karting Arena.

Redding, formerly the youngest rider in history to win a Grand Prix when he triumphed in the British 125GP at Donington Park in 2008, who is competing in the elite MotoGP Championship onboard a Ducati GP16 with the Pramac Racing Team, launched the academy in December 2011 with the aim of getting more kids into bike racing and to help them start their racing careers.

The academy is designed to make motorbikes accessible for all kids aged between 6 and 14-years-old in a safe environment with structured training and coaching to build confidence.

To continue the growth of the academy and help more kids get into the sport, it has recently moved to Swindon Karting Arena in Wroughton Airfield.

Redding's academy runs throughout the year, every fortnight on a Sunday between 8am and 10am at the Swindon arena, Hanger C2, Wroughton Airfield, Wroughton, Swindon, Wiltshire SN4 0QR.

“We run structured training sessions with lots of track-time for two ability groups (beginner and experienced), so kids are riding in groups with similar abilities, which increases confidence and pace in a safer environment,” said a spokesman for the academy.

“When our riders reach a certain skill level, we provide help and support for the rider and family when taking the step from the academy to the racing paddock.

“We are really excited to be coming to Swindon and becoming a part of the team at Swindon Karting Arena. "The circuit, location and people are fantastic, which means we can develop the academy into a brilliant place for kids to learn how to ride a motorbike in a fun, safe and controlled environment.”

The academy have created a special “Novice Championship” in their classes, for new young riders to hone their skills and for Redding academy riders, their first race weekend is free.

Anyone with a bike will be able to ride at the academy from as young as five-years-old and the cost is £20 for the morning.
