SWINDON rider Josh Day will make his North West 200 debut this week – on the back of nine race wins within nine days at two different race tracks.

Fresh from winning all three Thundersport GB GP1 Elite races at Snetterton on Crank Racing’s Kawasaki ZX-10R, Day ran his own Yamaha R6 machine last weekend at another club meeting at Donington Park.

Not only did he win all of his 600 races, Day also took the Kawasaki out to ensure it was running well ahead of the North West, and ended up winning in the Open class, eventually winning six races from seven starts and finishing second in the final Open race.

Day and his team make their debuts at the famous Northern Ireland road races this weekend.

“I’ve been so excited about coming out here, I’ve hardly slept in a week,” revealed Day. “We’ve prepared as best we can, and after running both bikes at Donington at the weekend, we know we’re in great shape.

“I’ve always wanted to do the North West and decided I was going to do it this year on my Yamaha but then Mark (Grimes, team principle) got wind of it and when he saw how excited I was he said he fancied bringing the thousand over too if I was up for it.

“It’s going to be a great week. I know it won’t be easy and it’s going to be totally different to anything I’ve done previously but I’ll be giving it my all every time I go out and hopefully get some results Mark can be proud of.”
