DEFENDING champions Swindon Flames Juniors continued the defence of their BISHA South title with a double-header against Ash Avalanche and Chippy Trixters at the Lord Roberts Centre in Bisley.

The opening game against Ash began with early Swindon pressure but no clear-cut chances before Brett Massey denied Ash after five minutes.

From that point on, Swindon created numerous chances but were unable to capitalise until Robert Bean cut in from the left and fired home on 12 minutes.

Just before the end of the first period, a rare spell of Ash pressure resulted in an equaliser and midway through the second period, Ash scored with a wraparound and long shot to leave Swindon trailing 3-1.

Both sides traded goals, with Swindon scoring though Richard Wilson and Dylan Bonner twice,Wilson and Alexander Quant assisting , but the Flames lost out 6-4.

The second game against Trixters saw Swindon dominate the first period and two goals from Bonner, the first off a rebound from a Wilson shot and the second after an end-to-end play,Charlie Browning grabbing the assist to make it 2-0.

The game hinged on the opening minute of the second period as Swindon had a third goal disallowed before Trixters scored their opener.

Worse was to come for the Flames as Dylan Jackson was given a tripping penalty, from which Chippy equalised.

With a minute left, Swindon conceded a third before pulling their netminder and shipping a fourth.

Despite the defeats, Swindon remain top of the standings.
