LOUISE Hunt’s Wimbledon adventure came to an end this evening after she was knocked out of the ladies’ wheelchair doubles competition at the semi-final stage.

Wanborough’s Hunt joined forces with Dutchwoman Marjolein Buis, with the two having been on the opposite sides of the net at the All England Club 24 hours earlier in the wheelchair singles.

Hunt and Buis were pitted against defending champions Jordanne Whiley, of Great Britain, and Japan’s Yui Kamiji, with the top seeds living up to their billing as they coasted to a 6-1, 6-3 victory on Court 16.

They will now go on to meet Dutch second seed pairing Jiske Griffoen and Aniek Van Koot in the final after they defeated Britain’s Lucy Shuker and German Sabine Ellerbrock 6-1, 7-6 in the other semi-final.

Today's match was Hunt’s second time on court at SW19 in as many days, with the London 2012 Paralympian going down 6-2, 6-0 to Buis, who is the reigning French Open champion, in the quarter-finals of the wheelchair singles.

Wheelchair singles competitions have been introduced at Wimbledon for the first time this year, with Hunt receiving a wildcard into the ladies’ draw. She previously competed in the doubles event at the Championships 12 months ago.

Hunt’s Wimbledon matches are just the start of what is sure to be a big summer for the 25-year-old as she has also been selected to compete at the Rio Paralympics in September.
