SWINDON rhythmic gymnast Stephani Sherlock was crowned senior all-around British champion at the weekend in Liverpool.
The Esprit gymnast clinched the gold medal with a fantastic routine to claim the trophy from reigning champion and fellow Esprit competitor Laura Halford, who was forced to settle for bronze.
Llanelli’s Gemma Frizelle split the two Esprit gymnasts as she took the silver medal and Sherlock was left shocked by the final result.
“I just feel so, so happy and so grateful for all the people who have supported me and believed in me, and who knew I could do it,” said Sherlock after the event at the Echo Arena.
“It’s been so hard and a long journey towards this medal - it means so much to me.”

Meanwhile, in the senior rhythmic apparatus finals, Halford came back from disappointment in the all-around final to grab two titles in the clubs and ribbon.
Newly crowned all-around champion Sherlock took the ball title to add another gold to her collection, with Frizelle winning the hoop event.
