SWINDON racer Charlie Nesbitt has managed to extend his lead at the top of Motostar Championship after another successful weekend.

Nesbitt made a cautious start to practice on Friday at Brands Hatch running in a new engine and was around 10th position until pushing on the final lap to secure third.

In the first set of qualifiers Nesbitt was looking good and it took him just 15 minutes to post the fastest lap of 1:33.904.

The next qualifying session saw him improve his lap time further to 1:33.498 which put him almost a second ahead of his closest competitor.

He then dominated the 10-lap race later in the day, leading the way from start to finish, setting the fastest lap in the process.

Over 14 laps on Sunday, his performance was a carbon copy of the 10-lap race, with him leading from start to finish.

The 15-year-old has now won 10 races this season and the last six consecutively which has seen him amass a total of 280 points, 109 points clear of second.

“I’m really pleased to have got two more wins,” Nesbitt said.

“It means I have increased the lead in the championship so I’m very happy with that.''

Fellow Swindon rider Max Cook, 13, riding for Team Repli-Cast UK Racing, stormed to ninth position in the second race.

Cook set a time of 1:36.583 to take 14th position over the combined qualifying sessions for the start of the first race at the Brands Hatch GP circuit and finished 11th in the opener before getting inside the top 10 in the second.

He said: "I felt like I rode really well. I had some great battles which was awesome and the top 10 position was great as I was aiming for this from the weekend.

The next round is at Cadwell Park on August 27.
