THIRTEEN-year-old Charlie Nesbitt was left disappointed to end a stunning season with a crash in the final race.

Nesbitt, who had already won the British Motostar Championship, won the penultimate race of the season at Brands Hatch before not finishing the finale.

Nesbitt ended the season with 430 points, 112 ahead of second-placed Jake Archer after winning 16 races throughout the season.

The Swindon rider was still hungry for two more wins to top his season off and in free practice, he quickly set about his work, heading the time sheet by 1.16 seconds.

Nesbitt lined up in the middle of the front row for race one and when Taylor crashed out on the final lap, he was able to finish with a nine-second cushion.

However, a coming together with Dani Saez in race two cost him a perfect weekend.

“In the first race, I had a great battle with Taz Taylor before he crashed out, which was a pity,” said Nesbitt, who has earned a wildcard appearance in the Moto3 Junior World Championship in Valencia on November 20.

“In the second race, Saez and me were really pushing each other hard and we both wanted the race victory.

“I got on the outside of him and was turning in, but he was also chasing the same piece of tarmac.

“We touched and both crashed out of the race. It was a shame because it looked like we would have a really good battle.”
