PROMOTER Gary Turland expects the fifth Raged UK show to be the biggest one yet as they prepare to host a night of mixed martial arts at Swindon MECA.

The event, which takes place on Saturday, December 3, boasts a bill which will include Lew Long, Dante Hawkins and Highworth Town goalkeeper Kent Kauppinen.

“We have our biggest competitors to date. We have Lew Long, who’s been fighting at the pinnacle of British MMA and his name has been passed around to progress to UFC,” said Turland.

“I’ve been lucky enough to get him (Long) on a Raged show before he takes his career to the next level.”

As well as the professional bouts, there are also some amateurs making an appearance, with Craig Rawlings, Dean Hart and Tom Enstone all climbing into the cage in December.

Turland also believes the popularity surrounding MMA at the moment means it will be a great evening of entertainment.

“Not only do we have some top pro fights we also have some really good amateur fights on the bill too. Craig (Rawlings) has just come off of a really good win,” said Turland.

“Dean (Hart) is also returning so we have a real mix of talent which is great because we can appeal to a bigger audience. We want to make it exciting for everyone.

“It’s our biggest show to date, it’s not just a local show. Once you watch one, you get hooked. Conor McGregor is leading the way and MMA is the fasted growing sport in the world.

“Before it used to be quite a niche market but now people like McGregor are household names and he’s getting more people interested.”

Doors open at 6.15pm, with standard tickets costing £20 in advanced and £45 for VIP in advance. Tickets on the door are an extra £5.
