SWINDON Shock are gearing up for a crucial weekend in the National League Division Four as they face Southampton University Sharks and Bristol Storm.

Victory over both sides will give David Colclough’s troops the best chance of the title as they face promotion rivals Cardiff City on the last day of the regular season.

Shock go into the game well rested after their week off, but Colclough admits it is frustrating to have back-to-back road games at this stage of the campaign.

“We need to win all three of our last games, I don’t want to free ball Southampton but they’re not the strongest team,” said Colclough.

“They’re bottom of the league so we should be okay, I think we will Put our emphasis on Sunday’s game with Bristol.”

Shock have suffered from sporadic injury problems this season but have been dealt a major blow as Matt North picked up a knock during the week’s training.

Colclough, who is a player-coach at the club, has also suffered a reoccurrence of an earlier ankle injury.

Despite this, he remains confident his squad are more than capable of claiming two wins in the double-header.

“We took an injury blow in the week, Matt North is a big guy who does a lot of rebounding,” added Colclough.

“He does the dirty work and is a good defender, but we should be okay.

“The guys are confident in our ability, we have beaten both of these teams already, we need to make sure we show up.”

Colclough wants to see his players make a good start to both of the fixtures as he aims to wrap up all the points on offer.

However he is more than aware that complacency could cost his troops dear.

“We know we control our own fate for promotion,” he added.

“I want to get Saturday’s game over with, I’ll put the starting five in and just bleed them for the first half.

“We want to get a sizeable lead and then rest for the Sunday game.

“We have enough players but we are hoping that we don’t stoop to their level.

“If we get complacent then we are done, we know we have to win and we are focussed.

“You have to play every game to win and the last few weeks we have got great intensity about our game.

“We just can’t be complacent, that is my only big fear ahead of the weekend.”
