SWINDON Shock will be gunning for victory over Cardiff City this weekend as they look to claim the National League South West Division Four title.

David Colclough’s side travel to Wales to take on the league leaders knowing only a victory will do for his team.

The hosts are two points clear of Shock going into the game, but a win in the Welsh capital for Shock will see them draw level and claim the title because of a superior head-to-head record between the teams.

Following last weekend’s surprise defeat to Southampton Sharks, Colclough admits it has been a strange week for him and his players.

“If we don’t win we could end up being on the outside looking in so we have to be careful,” said Colclough.

“We know what they are about, we have played them for the last three years so it isn’t like they are a new team.

“There is nothing they can throw at us which we haven’t seen before. Judging by some of their statistics they are going really well.

“But they have also had a two weeks without a match, so I am hoping that will work to our advantage.

“We’ve been playing, we played twice last weekend and even though it hurt us, I think it got us match ready.”

The Shock chief wants to see more team spirit among his players as they gear up for the final game of the regular season.

After last weekend’s defeat he thinks the players are now communicating better ahead of the title decider.

“Tuesday’s training session was really interesting and fiery, I think there was a bit of frustration from losing and people not turning up to training,” he added “This week they decided to have a walk-through on Saturday in the morning, work on some shooting drills and communicate.

“There seems to be more talking, I think that is a good start for us. This is the first year where the chemistry hasn't really been there.”

Ahead of the game Swindon do have an injury concern in the shape of high-scoring Matt North, who picked up knee and ankle problems last weekend.

Lee Hobbis also missed training this week through illness, but Colclough is confident he will be fit for the weekend.
